Behind the Music: Meet the Cast of Legends of Motown

It has been a little while since our last blog post, and after the July shows many of you reached out with questions, stories and memories. It felt like the perfect time to return to blogging and share more about the people who bring this show to life. If you were in the audience that night, you already know how much heart goes into every performance. Today we are pulling back the curtain and giving you a closer look at the cast that keeps Motown alive on our stage.

There is something special about Motown. The harmonies, the choreography and the stories behind every song create a feeling that is hard to describe. Bringing that feeling to life takes a dedicated group of singers, musicians and one very charismatic emcee. Since you have been asking for more behind the scenes content, this is the perfect place to begin.

The Voices of Motown

Each Legends of Motown show features three female vocalists and five male singers. Every performer brings their own personality and sound to the stage. Together they cover the golden era of Motown.

Our costume designer draws inspiration from the original Motown look. The gowns, the colours and the sharp silhouettes help create the feeling of stepping back in time. Everything you hear in the show is performed live. There are no tracks or shortcuts. It is all talent and teamwork.

The Band Behind the Groove

Motown’s signature sound comes from the musicians who support every song. Our band includes a drummer, percussionist, keyboardist, bassist, guitarist and saxophonist. They perform in classic black suits with white shirts and bow ties, a look inspired by the original touring musicians of the Motown era.

If you watch closely, you may notice small personal touches. A colourful sock, a vintage pin or a patterned pocket square. These details are part of the fun for returning fans who enjoy spotting them and sharing photos.

Your Motown Emcee

Between songs, our emcee keeps the energy high with stories, humour and audience interaction. He guides you through the history and the memories that make Motown more than music. He helps create the feeling that everyone in the room is part of the experience.

Why These Songs

Many of you asked how the setlist was chosen. Our producer explained it simply. He looked at the most well known Motown artists and chose the songs that moved him. He wanted to build a show he would be excited to see himself. The show focuses on the years when the Motown sound was at its strongest. Those songs still make people smile, dance and remember.

What Comes Next

Every performer brings something unique to the show. Beginning this week we will be sharing individual cast bios. Some of the stories are funny, some are personal and some may change the way you hear the music.
